AgoraCart Free User Forums

I've been searching the forums for over an hour and see that several people have this problem, and I have not seen an answer that has yet to solve it for me. I set up an agora cart through my cpanel. my url is

www.angrylittledeadgirl.com/angrygirlgear/protected/manager.cgi

when i enter this into my browser, a popup window for login appears. I enter the user name and password i set up when i installed the agora cart. that password works. I am then brought to the manager login window:

AgoraCart DELUXE Store Manager ver. 4.0K-4b Standard

Note: you must have atleast two periods (.) in the URL you are using to access this manager area. For example, if you are using: www.yourname.com/store/protected/manager.cgi, then you are okay. If using something like: yourname.com/store/protected/manager.cgi (notice no preceeding www.), you will have login problems.


I have the www. in my url. so that is good. I have tried the default manager/admin username and pass and it does not work. I have tried the username and pass i set up when i installed (that got me through the popup login) and it does not work. I even read the whole manager.cgi file through my file management to see if there was some other funky password combination stored there. Nothing. I cant get past this window...

any help would be appreciated...thank you!

finally saw a post where someone said that agora cart didnt like one of their characters in their password...

i had a few $$ in mine...

took out the $$ and i got in. it might be helpful to add to your start up information that certain complex characters in passwords will result in non-functionality. would have saved me a few hours

yeah. sorry for the headaches.
when dealing with perl and other languages and submit text there are things called "Special Characters" that if allowed to be entered and processed could be a major security risk. it is therefore best to disallow any characters that a program could interpret as a command.
you will find that a properly configured alphanumeric password (and username) using upper case and lowercase letters will be suffiecent. do not use words. mix numbers and letters - uppercase and lowercase - and the longer the better.

for example would be a really tough one to crack. especially if the username is configured in the same manner.
