Password Protecting a Catergory Page

I don't know if this is possible or not. I do wholesale/retail. My wholesale is for businesses only who plan to buy in qunatity. I don't want my retail customers to see the wholesale pricing because they get confused as to why they can't buy one piece for the same as wholesale. Is there a way for me to have a wholesale shopping catergory that would be password protected. That way I could give my wholesale customers the userid and passsword to login to access the page.

You will need to set up a separate store for your wholesale customers.
You cannot password protect a category...

Just on the whole "second shop" thing for wholesalers:

1. is it possible to have the second shop on the same URL?

2. i assume it means that the merchant needs to enter all their products again, into the second database?

3. any other suggestions on what would be an easy way to offer products at different prices to retailers? Perhaps a coupon would work better?

any suggestions/ideas most welcome

With a 2nd store there might be a way to use the same database, but would need some customizing to the 2nd store to adjust prices on the fly... Although, with the v5.5 gold version with 10 userfields, there is a way to define the wholesale price... Again need to do some customizing...

The other option would be to give them a coupon number and do a percentage type of thing...
A lot of it depends on how the wholesale prices are calculated....
Still, any way you slice it, the pro/gold version would be required...
